Interior Designer and Colour Consultant

Meet Ren, founder of The Painted Wren
My career spans more than 20 years working with interior designers and home retailers in London and the South East.
I've worked on a range of projects from private Country estates, to Regency town houses, bijou 1 bedroom flats to airy Loft apartments. Countryside, coastal and city.
On these journeys I have been fortunate enough to work in collaboration with architects, builders and craftspeople, alongside property developers, celebrities, artists, families and individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Studying at Winchester School of Art, I trained as a woven textile designer; the transition into interiors was a natural step for me.
Whether it's the intricacy of blending threads together on a loom or creating a scheme for your home, I love the complexity of experimenting with different combinations of colour and pattern all whilst paying attention to the smallest of details.
I have a particular love of heritage design - clothing, fabrics, objects but especially interiors. The sense of nostalgia and the stories behind pieces create a unique character to our living. At my happiest I love working from heritage colour palettes, I like to rework and reimagine historical interiors to adapt for our modern day life. I love to explore antique shops and flea markets and my current home in Cornwall is the perfect place to seek inspiration and discover those rare vintage finds.
I enjoy the vibrancy of the people and their creativity all set against the backdrop of the ever changing
landscape.
Rain or shine.....
I am instinctively drawn to the natural world and am often found wrapped up warm on a blustery seaside walk or hiking through woodland. The unpredictability of nature, its wild and weathered landscapes, ever changing hues, dramatic, fiery sunsets or contrasting soft hazy tones of a summer's evening provide endless inspiration. I'll always have a sketch book or camera on hand to capture these moments of transient colour or natural form.
My love of the natural world means I am mindful about our impact on the planet. I'm passionate about improving the sustainable, eco and welfare choices we make, and am committed to exploring options when decorating interiors where possible.
Spending time with my family and friends is paramount. They are at the heart of my life. I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by so many entrepreneurial and creative people who, in their own unique ways, are all inspiring, encouraging and dare to take risks.
It is thanks to these people that I finally opened my sketch book on a new page, took the plunge, and set up my own design studio.
Welcome to The Painted Wren.
Inspiring interiors down to the smallest detail.
